🇨🇳🐉#China strongly criticized the United States' attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, calling it a violation of the UN Charter and international law.
In a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Beijing said that the attack only added to tensions in the Middle East and appealed to all parties, especially Israel, to immediately cease fire.
China has also underscored its readiness to join international efforts to restore peace in the Middle East, although to date Beijing has not offered substantial assistance beyond rhetorical support for Tehran.
China, which relies heavily on oil supplies from the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a third of China's crude oil supply passes, fears Iran could close the strait in retaliation for a US strike. This could disrupt global oil flows, which would have a major impact on China's economy.
Meanwhile, Iran vowed not to back down and stated that it has all options to defend the country's sovereignty and warned that US actions will have lasting consequences.
