India - Pakistan: a new escalation is imminent
India does not plan to restore the agreement of the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, which was suspended after the recent military conflict.
India will redirect water that flowed to Pakistan to its state of Rajasthan by constructing a canal. This was stated by India's Home Minister Amit Shah.
This decision threatens to cause irreparable damage to Pakistan's economy, food security, and energy sector. The agricultural sector is linked to about a quarter of GDP and employs 40% of the population. The country also receives one-third of its electricity from hydropower.
"Blood and water cannot flow together," Indian Prime Minister Modi said during the last escalation of relations back in 2016.
It is not difficult to assume that with such developments, a new round of military conflict will occur very soon.$ETH
