Prenetics has become the first public medical company with bitcoin on its balance sheet
The American biotech firm Prenetics, closely associated with David Beckham, has invested $20 million in bitcoin. This is the first case of a public company in the healthcare sector officially adding $BTC to its treasury reserve.

After the news, the company's shares jumped by 23%. The deal was made at an average price of $106,712 per coin. Prenetics has joined the wave of corporate investors following MicroStrategy's example.
From medicine to blockchain: what's behind the company's step
Prenetics CEO Danny Yong stated that this step is not just about investments:
"I am inspired not just by $BTC as an asset, but by the intersection of innovation in healthcare and blockchain. We stand at the dawn of a new era — where genomics, personalized medicine, and digital assets will be interconnected."
The company is betting not on short-term speculation but on a long-term presence in the #Web3 sector. This is also confirmed by the new personnel decision: former OKEx COO Andy Chun has joined the board of directors. He has over ten years in the crypto industry and will now develop the digital asset strategy within Prenetics.
Ambitions: not just a treasury, but a full-fledged course towards crypto
Prenetics has already formed a team of crypto specialists. In addition to Chun, the project involves Token2049 founder Raphael Strauch and Kraken representative Tracy Hoyos Lopez. According to Yong, this is about a long-term transformation:
"We have laid the financial foundation for innovative capital management. Our BTC reserve is just the beginning. We are set to create one of the most significant crypto treasuries in the healthcare sector."
What's up with Beckham?
David Beckham remains the main public face of the brand and one of its largest investors. Although he is not directly involved in the company's bitcoin strategy, his presence adds confidence and attracts attention.
Given the interest of the football industry in crypto (for example, recently one of the French teams formed its reserve), Beckham could play a bridging role between sports and Web3.
What's next?
Prenetics is unlikely to limit itself to just bitcoin. The company has already expressed interest in integrating blockchain solutions in the fields of genetics, data analysis, and medical protocols. We are likely to see the launch of new products and the expansion of partnerships in the coming months.
Meanwhile, stocks continue to rise, and investors are increasingly watching how large companies from traditional sectors are embracing digital assets.
