🔗 DeFi will be the next stage in the evolution of $BTC

DeFi protocols will transform the first cryptocurrency from a passive instrument for accumulation into an active financial instrument, according to participants of the Bitcoin 2025 conference.

In their opinion, this will allow the asset to compete with the traditional financial system. The developers believe that bitcoin is too significant an asset to remain just digital gold.

"BTCFi is about creating a trust-free financial system around digital gold. Bitcoin needs to become an active instrument, not just a means of accumulation," Lombard Finance co-founder Jacob Phillips explained to the publication.

He also noted that sidechains and crosschain bridges expand the possibilities of the network without jeopardizing its security.
