U.S. prosecutors file lawsuits for the seizure of cryptocurrency worth 225 million dollars related to pig farming fraud
Officials from the U.S. Department of Justice reported that the Secret Service confiscated more than 225 million dollars linked to fraud in cryptocurrency investment.
On Wednesday, the Department of Justice filed a civil lawsuit for the seizure of digital assets worth more than 225.3 million dollars. In the U.S. legal system, such cases are directed against the assets themselves, not their owners. According to the government, these funds were obtained by criminals from victims of investment schemes.
Acting District Attorney for D.C. Janine Pirro stated that authorities plan to return some of the funds to the victims. Although details of the scheme are not disclosed, documents indicate that more than 400 people were victims who lost millions of dollars.
