The best state of life is to seek deficiency or satisfaction. Perfection is the greatest taboo in life. Some people have smooth careers but constant family disputes; some have harmonious families but live in poverty; some have chaotic marriages but have excellent and promising children; some have virtue and meet good people, but their health declines. This is probably because one cannot enjoy everything, cannot occupy everything, and cannot greedily seek all achievements. When you feel regret over the unsatisfactory aspects of life, little do you know that fate is calculating carefully, taking away your lightest chips, and creating the smallest constraints for you. As the saying goes, heavenly principles measure fullness, while human principles measure balance. One must not be too greedy; if one has a thousand, one shouldn't wish for ten thousand; if one becomes an emperor, one shouldn't aspire to become an immortal. Being content is essential. Poverty can also bring happiness; those who are not content will feel sorrow even in wealth and nobility. A person only has two hands; even if one enters a mountain of gold and silver, one can only carry two items. If one takes gold and silver bracelets, one cannot also take jade ruyi. How can one expect to have everything one desires? Life will always have some unsatisfactory aspects, and we must learn to accept our smallness and powerlessness. Those things that cannot be obtained even with our utmost efforts, and those heartfelt exchanges that cannot be reciprocated, should be learned to be calmly given up. There is no need to feel regret for things that cannot be attained. Never make things difficult for yourself.
