$BTC On March 6, 2025, President Trump issued an executive order establishing a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, funded by bitcoins forfeited to the U.S. Treasury. It also created a U.S. Digital Asset Stockpile for other seized cryptocurrencies—none of which are to be sold and the Reserve is budget-neutral . The order designated the Treasury and Commerce Departments to manage these assets and explore ways to increase holdings without taxpayer burden.
