#VietnamCryptoPolicy Vietnam has recently enacted the Digital Technology Industry Law, which officially legalizes cryptocurrency assets. This historic legislation, passed on June 14, 2025, will come into effect on January 1, 2026.

The new law classifies digital assets into two categories: virtual assets and cryptocurrency assets, although it explicitly excludes them from being considered securities or digital fiat currencies. This move aims to establish a clear regulatory framework, attract foreign investment, and foster digital innovation, particularly in AI and blockchain. The government now faces the task of developing detailed implementation guidelines, including licensing standards and robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) measures, crucial for addressing the concerns of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
