During a PL Mulher event this Friday in Brasília, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said he will not 'make a statement' in next week's testimony at the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The interrogation is part of the criminal process judging the defendants of the coup plot.

— I’m not going there to make a statement, to want to grow, to challenge anyone. I will be there with the truth on our side. We do not shy away from any summons, we know what to say and we have something on our side that the other side does not have. We have the truth on our side — said Bolsonaro.

The opening ceremony of the event featured speeches from Michelle, former president Jair Bolsonaro, and the national president of PL, Valdemar Costa Neto. None of them mentioned Zambelli, who received 946 thousand votes for federal deputy, the highest result of a female candidacy for the party in 2022.

Other figures from the party were mentioned in the speeches, such as councilwoman Priscila Costa, vice president of PL Mulher, the mayor of Aracaju, Emília Correia, and senator Eudócia Caldas (AL), who was a substitute until last year and assumed the position in the Legislative House with the departure of Rodrigo Cunha (Podemos-AL) to become vice mayor of Maceió.

Zambelli had her preventive detention decreed by Supreme Federal Court minister Alexandre de Moraes. She is in Italy and is currently a fugitive from justice. Upon leaving Brazil, the parliamentarian requested a leave from the Chamber for 127 days, and in her place is Colonel Tadeu (PL-SP).

In May, the deputy was unanimously sentenced by the First Panel of the STF to ten years in prison for her involvement in invasions of the National Justice Council (CNJ) system. An appeal is being judged in the Court this Friday, and there is already a majority to uphold the conviction.

The meeting also included timid gestures towards the possibility of Michelle Bolsonaro running for president. She has emerged as one of the alternatives should the party fail to reverse Bolsonaro's ineligibility, who is prohibited from running for elections until 2030 due to attacks on the electoral system.

Her name, however, is not a consensus in the party and the possibility of her running was not mentioned by Bolsonaro or Valdemar during the event. It was up to deputy Altineu Cortes, vice president of the Chamber, to make the gesture towards the former first lady.

– If God wills it, we will conquer the Presidency of the Republic. Michelle, God has much for your life.

Michelle did not comment on Altineu's speech, but, before that, while speaking, she sought to give a campaign tone by saying that “a multitude of wise women builds the nation.”

– President Valdemar, thank you very much for this space, for trusting us. Thank you because you have always given us this autonomy, encouraged us to inspire and motivate women to enter politics. PL Mulher has worked to encourage the participation of good women in politics. A wise woman builds her house, but a multitude of wise women builds a nation.

For his part, Bolsonaro avoided talking about the presidential race in his speech and showed that, for him, positions in the Senate are more of a priority than returning to the Palácio do Planalto.

– With the majority in the Senate, we appoint the president of the House, we decide whether a hearing for the Supreme Court will be approved, the agencies will be occupied by qualified people. We, I dare say, will command more than the president of the Republic himself.

He also commented on the testimony he will provide to the Supreme Federal Court next week as part of the trial investigating a coup plot against the result of the 2022 presidential election, of which the former president is suspected of being the main leader.

– What happened in 2022 will certainly be spoken by me when I am live in the Supreme Court, with the five ministers in front of me demanding answers. It is worth watching.
