Fresh Air for IT Workforce, Google Boss Ensures Job Openings Despite AI Proliferation
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alphabet Inc Sundar Pichai stated that although AI continues to take human jobs, he will continue to open job vacancies at least until next year.
According to Pichai, workers remain a key component, especially in engineering, even as Google continues to increase its investment in AI.
"I hope we will grow from our current engineering base even into next year, as it allows us to do more with the existing opportunities. I see this merely as a way to make technicians much more productive, eliminating many of the tedious aspects of what they do," Pichai quoted by Bloomberg said.
Additionally, Pichai indicated that while AI remains superior in coding, the technology still makes fundamental errors. Therefore, the parent company of Google still needs human computer technicians as companions.
