EU ‘READY TO TAKE COUNTERMEASURES’ AFTER TRUMP DOUBLES STEEL TARIFFS TO 50%
The European Union on Saturday condemned President Donald Trump’s decision to double tariffs on steel imports, arguing that it “undermines” attempts to find a “negotiated solution” to the ongoing trade dispute.
“We deeply regret the announced increase of U.S. tariffs on steel imports from 25% to 50%,” an EU spokesperson said in a statement.
“This move creates more uncertainty for the global economy and raises costs for consumers and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic,” the spokesperson added.
