👀Czech Justice Minister Resigns Over Bitcoin Scandal
The Justice Minister of the Czech Republic, Pavel Blažek, has resigned after the Ministry of Justice sold 480 Bitcoins, worth approximately 45 million USD.
This Bitcoin came from a person who was previously convicted of drug offenses, arrested in 2016 for running an online black market, and sentenced to four years in prison for embezzlement and drug trafficking. Although denying wrongdoing, Blažek stated he wanted to protect the government's reputation.
This incident has raised doubts among opposition lawmakers about the legality of receiving assets from criminals. The police have also launched an investigation into the origin of the Bitcoin and how the Ministry of Justice accepted this money.
