Ripple buying Circle could cause "crypto apocalypse," prominent lawyer claims
As reported by @paulbarron X account, Ripple is currentlyengaged in a bidding war with Coinbase to acquire Circle, with sources saying that the San Francisco-based fintech giant has an upper hand at a $9-11 billion price tag. In response to the news, MetaLeX Labs founder Gabriel Shapirowarned that should Ripple purchase Circle, the industry could enter a "crypto apocalypse." However, if Ripple secures the deal, it is unlikely to pass antitrust muster, as it could give the company excessive control over the ecosystem. "Making Ripple the largest asset issuer on every blockchain would obviously be disastrous and anticompetitive," wrote Shapiro.
