🔥MetaMask is preparing to support native Solana - a significant change
I just read information from Mr. Dan Finlay, co-founder and CEO of MetaMask, that this wallet will officially support the Solana blockchain directly in May 2025. This is the first time MetaMask is expanding beyond the Ethereum ecosystem (EVM), which is no small feat.
If you have ever used MetaMask, soon we will be able to hold native SOL and use decentralized applications (dApps) on Solana right within the wallet without needing to go through intermediary solutions. This is more convenient and streamlined for users.
Solana is known for its fast transaction processing and low fees. The developer community is also quite strong, so this integration could significantly expand the operational scope of MetaMask.
Additionally, Finlay also vaguely hinted at the possibility of MetaMask issuing its own token. Although there is no specific schedule or detailed information yet, this has been discussed since 2021. However, legal issues remain a factor to consider.
If launched, this token could play a role similar to some major previous projects like UNI or 1INCH, serving community and governance purposes. But for now, it is still just speculation.
