1. Historic First Transaction

On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz made history by completing the first-ever real-world Bitcoin transaction—purchasing two Papa John’s pizzas for 10,000 $BTC

2. The Deal

Hanyecz posted on the Bitcointalk forum, offering 10,000 $BTC in exchange for two large pizzas (plus some leftovers). Jeremy Sturdivant, a fellow user from the UK, accepted and arranged the delivery.

3. Value Back Then

At the time, 10,000 #BTC was worth about $41, as Bitcoin traded for roughly $0.0065 each.

4. Bitcoin’s Surge

Fast forward to today, and those same 10,000 #Bitcoin are worth over $1 billion—making it the most expensive pizza purchase in history.
