#BinancePizza First purchase with bitcoin: pizza for 10,000 BTC

On May 22, 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz from Florida made history by buying two pizzas for 10,000 bitcoins. He posted a message on the Bitcointalk forum, offering BTC to anyone who would order him pizza. Eventually, one user agreed and ordered pizzas from Papa John’s.

At that time, 10,000 BTC was worth about $41. Today, it would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars — essentially, the most expensive pizzas in history.

This day has become symbolic for the crypto industry and has been celebrated annually as Bitcoin Pizza Day ever since. It serves as a reminder of how far cryptocurrency has come — from an internet experiment to a global financial phenomenon.
