PANews May 10 news, according to DL News, two developers of the Bitcoin privacy wallet Samourai Wallet, Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, are facing charges of money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transmission business. Although the defense pointed out that the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) had stated that the wallet might not meet the definition of a money transmitter under the Bank Secrecy Act, the prosecution refused to drop the charges and denied the existence of a 'Brady violation' (i.e., failure to disclose evidence favorable to the defendant). The prosecution believes that the opinion of the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network is unrelated to the more serious money laundering charges, and the case will proceed as originally planned, expected to enter the trial phase within the next seven months.
