#MEMEAct
The MEME Act is a bill introduced in the US Congress in February 2025 by Rep. Sam Liccardo and supported by Senator Chris Murphy. Its aim is to prohibit federal officials—including the President, members of Congress, and senior executive officials—along with their close family members, from publishing, promoting, or profiting from digital assets such as meme coins. This bill emerged after the controversy surrounding the launch of the $TRUMP coin by Donald Trump, which caused significant losses for retail investors and raised concerns about corruption and foreign influence in government.
