The American media company Lebul acquired exclusive rights to develop and produce the story of British man James Howells, who lost a hard drive with 7500 BTC.
12 years of planning searches and battling municipal authorities will serve as the basis for a 'multiplatform media project' that includes a documentary series, a podcast, and social media content.
The series is titled 'Buried Bitcoin: The Real-Life Treasure Hunt of James Howells.'
According to a press release, the project has already attracted the interest of international sponsors, 'crypto leaders,' and streaming platforms.
In 2013, the hard drive containing Howells' Bitcoin wallet keys accidentally ended up in a trash bin and was then taken to a landfill along with other waste.
Since then, the Brit has repeatedly attempted to retrieve the device: offering authorities money, as well as searches using X-ray scanning and robotic dogs from Boston Dynamics.
Experts believe that the likelihood of finding a hard drive in a landfill and extracting data from it is close to zero.
