The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has dropped claims against PayPal's stablecoin
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed its investigation into the PYUSD stablecoin from payment giant PayPal. The regulator notified the company that it had completed its review with no claims or fines.
PayPal received a request from the SEC for documents related to the 'stablecoin' in November 2023. At that time, company representatives stated that they were cooperating with the agency. Since the beginning of the year, the SEC has closed investigations against Coinbase, Robinhood, Ripple, Kraken, ConsenSys, Cumberland, Nova Labs, and Uniswap. At the time of writing, the market capitalization of PYUSD is approximately $879 million.
Recall that in April 2025, PayPal added support for Solana and Chainlink for customers in the U.S. and adjacent regions. Later, the company announced the launch of a loyalty program. In the summer, American users will be offered 3.7% annual interest on deposits in PYUSD through PayPal or Venmo.
