Realized capitalization is an On-Chain metric that values each unit of Bitcoin not at the current market price, but at the price at which it was last moved on-chain. Instead of multiplying the total supply by the current market price, as traditional market capitalization does, realized capitalization sums the value of each UTXO based on the price at the moment it was last transferred.
This provides a more realistic view of the “invested value” in Bitcoin by market participants, filtering out the noise from lost coins or coins held for extended periods without movement. It offers a more stable and accurate measure of overall market sentiment and the cumulative behavior of holders.
Today, April 29, 2025, we have set a new all-time high: the total value invested in BTC, according to Realized Capitalization, has reached $882.228 billion.
See Chart Bitcoin: Realized Cap. Evolution of Bitcoin’s Realized Capitalization (1Y).
As the chart shows, there is strong confidence in the asset. Both large institutional capital and smaller investors have returned, and all market participants are speculating on a significant Bitcoin price surge in a very short period.
Historically, large accumulations of Realized Capitalization have been mostly followed by considerable price increases in Bitcoin. Although we have seen progressive gains since April 9, the price has not yet exploded significantly in a very short time frame, which is a typical characteristic of Bitcoin. However, if these accumulations continue, it is highly likely that such an explosion will occur. We already have numerous precedents in Bitcoin’s historical behavior.
We will remain closely monitoring the evolution of this metric, as it could signal the start of Bitcoin’s next major market move.
