📖 China Considers Exempting Tariffs on Some U.S. Goods

Reuters reported on April 25 that China is considering a 125% import tariff exemption on certain U.S. products to alleviate cost pressures and avoid supply chain disruptions.

The Ministry of Commerce of China has requested businesses to propose a list of essential products that should be exempted, including vaccines, chemicals, and aviation fuel. Beijing is also considering exempting tariffs on 8 items related to semiconductors.

This move comes after the U.S. exempted tariffs on many technology items from China, although it still maintains strict controls on electronics for national security reasons. Trade tensions between the two largest economies in the world continue to escalate.
