Airdrop cycles also exist, with bursts of activity alternating with periods of calm
We usually think that investing has cycles, and the rational approach is to dollar-cost average in bear markets and sell in bull markets, allowing us to truly buy low and sell high. However, the reality is quite the opposite. Once we enter a bear market, not only do many people stop dollar-cost averaging, but some even delete the software, not opening their accounts for months, and some forget their passwords; when the bull market arrives, instead of selling and exiting, a lot of people rush in, fearing they will miss out on the upcoming surge. As a result, most end up buying at high prices, hoping to catch the wave. If they bought Bitcoin, they might still see growth in the next round; if they bought altcoins, they might never return to their previous highs, or even hit zero.
Airdrops also have a certain cycle. I remember that towards the end of 2023, after the surge of the inscription rune, there was a luxurious airdrop rain in the Bitcoin ecosystem lasting nearly 10 months from Runestone, RSIC, Dog, Pizza, Ainn, FB, unisats, ME...; then in the first half of 2024, the TON ecosystem's electric hug mini-games also became popular for a few months... Now we are in a period of calm, although there are still some airdrops happening, they are scattered across different chains and various airdrop formats, and there hasn't been a significant explosion within any single ecosystem. Additionally, the competition for airdrops has become too fierce, and the airdrop ratios are too low... It has been about 4-5 months since the airdrop frenzy last year, and with the current market continuously adjusting, it may have also affected Oak's decision to postpone the airdrop... Once the market heats up again, combined with the cycles of bursts, airdrops could become popular again...
Therefore, it is understandable that some friends may feel a bit disheartened, but in terms of action, we still need to persevere. The market will not keep adjusting forever; it will eventually warm up again, and after this calm, there will be bursts of activity. As long as we stay in the loop and continue to focus on what we need to do every day, there will always be opportunities for us to seize; we just need to be patient and wait...
