According to Odaily, a South Korean cryptocurrency exchange operator has been sentenced to four years in prison for leaking military secrets to a North Korean hacker in exchange for Bitcoin. The 42-year-old man, identified by his surname Lee, was found guilty of violating the National Security Act. As part of his sentence, Lee is also suspended from holding similar positions for four years. The court learned that Lee received Bitcoin worth 700 million Korean won (approximately $480,000) from an individual suspected to be a North Korean hacker. The hacker reportedly convinced Lee to approach an active-duty officer to obtain military secrets.
