The cryptocurrency exchange
#Coinbase has completed the acquisition of Deribit — the largest platform in the world for trading crypto options. The trading volume of the mentioned platform in 2024 exceeded $1 trillion. The deal, worth $2.9 billion, became part of the exchange's global expansion strategy.
Coinbase stated that Deribit has a strong base of institutional and experienced traders. With this acquisition, the exchange intends to strengthen its position in the derivatives segment and move closer to the status of a universal center for digital assets.
In 2025, Coinbase has already acquired six companies. Among them is
#Spindle — an advertising blockchain platform for content creators, the Roam browser team, and the startup
#Liquifi , which specializes in early-stage token management. All deals are aimed at expanding the ecosystem and creating comprehensive services for various categories of clients.
