👀 Is the total amount of DOT going to be fixed? Gavin has released some alpha in the JAM chat group! In simple terms, Gavin provided his thoughts on the following issues: 1. How will the Bootstrap service of JAM develop? Gavin believes that the Bootstrap services currently being developed by Parity are not yet complete, but will continue to improve over the next few months, with richer features and clearer documentation. However, just as there are many different versions of a computer's BIOS, there may be multiple teams developing their own Bootstrap services in the future. Each service can choose to implement part of or an extended version of Parity's standard format as needed. This means that Bootstrap services in the future will be diverse and interchangeable, rather than controlled solely by Parity.

💥 Gavin Wood: JAM offers an opportunity just like the first time I learned about Ethereum! Gavin always describes his starting point quite modestly: a friend told him that someone was working on a new protocol called Ethereum that needed someone to implement it. He picked up the white paper, started writing code, without any grand narrative or planned career path. What happened later, we all know: Ethereum was born, the yellow paper emerged, and an industry began to take shape. But Gavin said: "Writing code is the starting point of everything and the most reliable path." Today's JAM is at the same early stage. The protocol is still taking shape, the client is still being implemented, and many key parts remain to be explored. Because of this, it provides a real opportunity for builders just like Gavin had back then — the ability to influence the underlying design, to drive standards, and to determine how future developers will use it. "I walked this path, and if these new developers have enough passion and capability, in my view, nothing can stop them from stepping onto this path — only this time the goal is JAM, not Ethereum!" From Graypaper to CoreVM, From Doom to Quake, From thought experiments to runtime reality. Last year at @EthPrague, @gavofyork used a Graypaper to inspire Ethereum developers to rethink the future of the underlying protocol. This year he returns to the stage with the first comprehensive practical speech on JAM and CoreVM. Lasting 50 minutes, filled with valuable insights, it thoroughly explores the design philosophy and technical roadmap of Polkadot's next-generation execution environment. This speech is the most systematic elaboration since the proposal of the JAM (Join-Accumulate Machine) architecture; it comprehensively showcases the core design of CoreVM, and how it transitions from multi-chain to multi-execution engines (multi-core, multi-runtime); it deeply addresses current hot topics in L1/L2 such as modularity, parallelism, and composability; and demonstrates how Polkadot has evolved from the initial concept of 'chain' to 'system kernel'. #JAM

🚀 Good news! At the Lisbon conference, the JAM implementation team (JAM DUNA) also released their work goals for Q2 2025! A few key developments worth noting: 🔹 Released JAM DUNA v0.7, supporting multi-client tiny testnet, marking the official entry of the testnet into the "multi-client parallel validation" era. 🔹 Drafted M1/M2 milestone documentation. 🔹 Advanced M3: Linear Recompilation. 🔹 Joint testing of JAM + Grandpa + warp sync. 🔹 The challenge checklist also includes key tasks such as CorePlay PoC, Grandpa+Auditing parallel execution, etc. More importantly, as a member of the JAM Implementers DAO, JAM DUNA stated that their DAO architecture has gradually taken shape and is conducting collaborative governance through GitHub + Discord! In addition, another goal for Q2 is for multiple implementation teams to release client binaries and join the network while improving docs.jamcha.in, aiming for the development experience to match zkVM documentation (like Succinct). Overall, this conference marks an important milestone for JAM as it transitions from "laboratory R&D" to "system collaboration." With the multi-client network, recompilation engine, and Toaster ready, the JAM mainnet is not far off! PolkaWorld will continue to follow up on the progress 🔍 #JAM

Good news! Good news! The latest Alpha from Lisbon! 🥳 Gavin Wood just announced at the JAM event in Lisbon that the JAM white paper is progressing towards v1.0, and the M1 phase will officially kick off this June! 🛠️ Not sure what M1 is — it's the first major milestone in the JAM development 👀 More specifically, this is the proof that the JAM implementation teams (those 38 teams) need to show that their nodes can correctly read blocks, follow protocol rules, and execute the core logic of JAM. If they fail this test, it’s game over 👀 Because, regardless of which path you choose (be it a validating node, light node, or non-PVM node), M1 is the foundation for all future rewards — including audits, DOT rewards, and eligibility to join the Fellowship! Teams that successfully pass M1 can nominate a developer to advance to a level III member of the @Polkadot Fellowship — this represents a formal entry into the core circle of ecological governance 😎 So, let's look forward to it! Let's see how many teams can achieve the M1 goal this June! 🏄‍♀️ #JAM

Many people criticize @Polkadot But many others are unaware that JAM will solve these issues. Main criticisms of Polkadot: High barrier to entry for developers: Deploying parachains requires winning slot auctions based on DOT, which is costly and complex for new teams. Rigid infrastructure (relay chain limitations): The relay chain lacks flexibility, and everything must adapt to the preset parachain architecture, limiting the space for innovation. Fragmented JAM narrative: The independent brand image of JAM causes confusion, leading to inconsistent messaging and decreased confidence among users and developers. How JAM addresses these issues: Permissionless service deployment: JAM eliminates the auction model. Developers can directly use Coretime to deploy smart contract-based services, using DOT as the token, thus removing the high entry barrier. Modular, flexible architecture: Replacing the relay chain with a modular system, no longer limited to "parachains," but supporting a wider range of decentralized applications. Clearer branding and unified narrative: The community is reinforcing a consensus—that JAM is simply the next generation upgrade of Polkadot, not an independent project, and DOT remains the core token of the entire ecosystem. #JAM

He has released a lot of noteworthy JAM protocol roadmap Alpha. He not only explained how JAM's Bootstrap services will develop and the possibilities for diverse implementations in the future, but also clearly proposed a radical and "constitutional" idea for the first time—fixing the total amount of DOT at π × 10⁹ (approximately 3.14 billion) and writing it into the JAM genesis block. The keywords for this discussion include: Bootstrap service: the "startup plugin system" of the JAM chain, which will no longer be monopolized by Parity but can be implemented and replaced by different teams.

Some friends are curious about what JAM's M1 M2 M3 are, so here’s a brief introduction 😜 This refers to the development stages of the JAM client team. Based on different stages, their bonuses also vary. There are 5 stages, and each stage has a bonus of 100,000 DOT 🤤 1⃣Milestone 1 (Stage One): This involves the correct execution of "block import" and "state transition function". While it is not yet a complete implementation of the entire protocol, it can be considered about halfway done. 2⃣Milestone 2 (Stage Two): Build a complete node, including all off-chain related modules. For example, the data availability layer and the communication network between nodes all belong to the off-chain part. By the second stage, you basically have a functioning complete node, although its performance might still be poor. 3⃣Milestone 3 (Stage Three): Optimize the performance to be comparable to that of Kusama. This means the node can at least be used smoothly in a testing environment. 4⃣Milestone 4 (Stage Four): Further optimize to approach the performance level of Polkadot's production environment, making it ready for official launch. 5⃣Milestone 5 (Stage Five): After being reviewed by an independent auditing agency, confirm that this software is safe and reliable, and can be confidently deployed anywhere. So overall: Stage One is to ensure blocks can be imported correctly. Stage Two is to get the node running completely. Stages Three and Four are for performance tuning. Stage Five involves auditing to confirm software quality. Stage Five actually doesn't rely solely on the team; the auditing party will provide suggestions for modifications, which must be corrected as required to pass!
