Pump.fun has another new move
This time, it directly upgrades the app to a "social trading" mode. Three core updates are worth highlighting:
First is the token reminder feature. Users can set notifications for any token, and followers will receive the corresponding push as well—turning alpha signals into a subscribable content stream.
Second is the announcement of zero-fee trading. This is quite attractive for short-term traders and volume-spamming bots; trading friction drops to zero.
Third is integration of USDC cross-chain trading. The cost of switching between different chains is flattened, and the entry barrier for newcomers continues to lower.
From this upgrade, it’s clear Pump.fun’s direction is very deliberate: upgrading the meme-launchpad into a trading terminal with social virality. It uses content distribution to drive trading traffic, and then keeps trading volume on its own platform with a zero-rate fee.
In the short term, attention, active addresses, and trading volume will very likely get catalyzed by these new features. Whether it can truly retain users still depends on controlling the noise of reminder signals, and on whether new growth catalysts can be found after the zero-fee period ends.
Social + trading + multi-chain—the competition in the meme track is shifting from "who can launch tokens" to "who can keep users".
