According to PANews, AMD hosted the 2025 Global AI Development Conference early today, unveiling its latest AI chips and cloud infrastructure hardware. OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman attended as a special guest, collaborating with AMD to introduce the Instinct MI400 and Instinct MI350 series of powerful AI chips. Throughout the development process, OpenAI provided technical feedback to AMD, aiding in GPU optimization.
During the event, Sam Altman expressed astonishment upon learning that a single MI400 chip is equipped with 432GB of HBM4 memory, exclaiming disbelief at the specifications. Compared to previous models, the MI350 features 288GB of HBM3E memory and boasts a memory bandwidth of up to 8TB/s, enhancing AI computing capabilities by four times and inference performance by 35 times.
AMD highlighted that due to lower power consumption compared to competitors, the MI355X offers 40% more tokens per dollar than NVIDIA chips.
