BlackRock Bitcoin ETF Becomes Fastest Fund to Reach $80 Billion

  • BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF achieved $80 billion AUM in only 374 days, faster than any ETF in history.

  • IBIT saw $448 million in inflows on July 10, boosting its net value to over $80 billion.

  • The fund now holds over 700,000 BTC, representing 3.55% of Bitcoin’s total circulating supply.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has reached $80 billion in assets under management (AUM) within 374 days, becoming the fastest ETF in history to do so. This milestone was previously held by Vanguard’s S&P 500 ETF (VOO), which took 1,814 days to hit the same benchmark.

On July 10, IBIT recorded inflows totaling $448 million. The day’s trading volume surpassed $5.39 billion, driving the ETF's net asset value to $80.11 billion. The market price closed at $64.50 per share. IBIT’s cumulative net inflow now stands at $53.45 billion, reflecting increasing investor demand for digital asset exposure.

ETF Climbs Global Rankings Amid Bitcoin Price Rise

The ETF has moved up to become the 21st-largest ETF globally. Its development has been fueled by the entering capital, as well as by the increase in value of Bitcoin. Recently, IBIT has already accumulated more than 700,000 BTC, i.e., roughly 3.55 percent of all existing Bitcoin. This amount highlights the expanding power that it has had in the digital asset market.

Data shared by Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas reveals IBIT reached this milestone five times faster than any other ETF. Comparisons show that ETFs like IEFA and IEMG took over 2,000 days to reach $80 billion. In comparison, IBIT’s performance sets a new benchmark for ETF growth timelines, especially among alternative asset-based funds.

Bitcoin ETFs Collectively Cross $140 Billion AUM

In addition to BlackRock’s performance, the total assets under management across all spot Bitcoin ETFs have now exceeded $140 billion. The combined inflows and asset appreciation have accelerated the sector’s rise, placing digital asset ETFs in direct competition with long-standing equity-based counterparts.
