The name Grokipedia comes from the AI assistant Grok, created by xAI, owned by Musk. The key difference between Grok is the ability to access information in real time via the Internet and the X platform.

The Grokipedia interface is minimalistic: users enter a query and receive a list of relevant articles. The goal of the project is to create an "encyclopedia of the future" that "understands the context and thinks like a person".
