Strip away the cryptography and Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) are answering one old, uncomfortable question, how does a bitcoin holder get spending power without selling the bitcoin. Selling ends the position. Every previous DeFi answer demanded a different sacrifice first, hand the keys to a custodian, accept a bridge, or convert the asset into a wrapped stand-in. TBV's proposition is narrower and stranger, keep the BTC as BTC, on bitcoin, under your own co-signed script, and borrow against it anyway.
The mechanics serve exactly that outcome. The depositor locks native BTC into a vault, the collateral becomes visible to a lending market on ethereum, and stablecoins like USDC or USDT can be drawn against it at ordinary DeFi borrow rates set by pool utilization, not by a desk quoting a spread. Repay, and the same coins that entered come back to the depositors own address. Nothing was sold, so the bitcoin exposure never blinked, and nobody else ever held the asset along the way.
Thats the practical shape of capital efficiency here, the coin does two jobs at once, store of value and collateral, without becoming somebody's liability in between. All the vault machinery, the pre-signed paths, the proofs, exists so this one sentence can be true.
The question worth sitting with, how much idle bitcoin is idle only becuase this option never existed?
