US authorities charged three foreign nationals over an alleged AI impersonation scheme that stole more than $129 million from companies worldwide, according to the Justice Department. Prosecutors allege that Jacob Soall, Sharon Hazan and Guy Sheetrit manipulated executives' and attorneys' voices and images to persuade employees to transfer money. Soall and Hazan were arrested in Spain over the summer, while Sheetrit was arrested in the United Kingdom in September. The alleged scheme operated between 2024 and 2026. The charges include conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money-laundering conspiracy and aggravated identity theft.
