Listen, an interesting (and slightly disturbing) topic has surfaced here. Have you heard about the Lolarchiver service? This is such a tool for OSINT intelligence based on open sources, only upgraded with artificial intelligence. And he knows how to collect entire dossiers on YouTube users... just based on their comments.
How does it work? You enter the commentator's nickname on YouTube, and in seconds you get a "portrait": from the intended country of residence to possible political or cultural views. For example, if a person often mentions Italian TV shows and writes in Italian, the system concludes that he is most likely from Italy. All of this is, in fact, from publicly available data, but it used to take hours of manual analysis. Now it's just one click.
The horror is that this is not some kind of secret intelligence development. It's available to anyone with an internet connection. But sometimes we write comments without a second thought, without expecting that someone will analyze them, compare them, and piece together our personality.
Besides YouTube, Lolarchiver also searches Twitch, X (formerly Twitter), gaming platforms, database leaks, and even porn sites. Some of its functions, as lawyers say, are already on the verge of — or even beyond — legality. It all depends on the country and data protection laws.
And that's the main question: what should we do with our privacy? When anyone can collect a "dossier" about you literally from traces left in comments or forums, aren't we violating our security simply by actively participating in the life of the Internet?
Even if you don't have anything to "hide," the very fact that someone might use your old messages to find out more about you than you'd like to tell them is already uncomfortable. It's like someone is reading your old emails - only you sent them out to everyone yourself, unaware that they would become the basis for analysis.
What do you think: is it normal to collect information about people from open sources using AI, or is it still a step too far?
