BNB (Binance Coin) is the native cryptocurrency of the Binance platform, launched in 2017. Initially, it operated on the Ethereum blockchain (ERC-20), but later transitioned to its own blockchain, Binance Chain, and Binance Smart Chain (now combined into BNB Chain). BNB is used to pay fees on Binance at a discount, participate in the launch of new projects (Launchpad), staking, and operations in DeFi.
