🚨 OneCoin: The story of the loudest crypto scam in the world
🔎 What was it?
OneCoin (2014-2019) — a pseudocurrency created by Ruja Ignatova (the "Cryptoqueen"). The project was positioned as a "Bitcoin killer," but in reality, it turned out to be a financial pyramid with damages of $4+ billion.
🔴 Why was it a scam?
✔️ No blockchain — transactions were falsified
✔️ Centralized issuance — coins were printed without algorithms
✔️ Ban on withdrawing funds — investors could not cash out "assets"
✔️ The exchange rate was set manually (without market mechanisms)
📉 How did it end?
• Founder Ruja Ignatova — wanted by Interpol
• Her brother (accomplice) received 20 years in prison in the USA
• Tens of thousands of victims worldwide
