Former Chair of the Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) Gary Gensler recently stated that Bitcoin (BTC) is likely to become a long-term investment asset because there are more than seven billion people in the world who are very interested in it.

"Something like Bitcoin can last for a long time because there are 7 billion people around the world who are very interested in it," Gensler said in an interview on the Squawk Box program on CNBC, Wednesday (04/16) local time.

However, the man who graduated from the University of
Pennsylvania also warned that more than 10 to 15 thousand other crypto tokens need to be reviewed carefully.
Gensler himself is known as one of the most anti-crypto figures in the administration of President Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States.

Thus, this statement tends to be surprising because the institution he once led was very vocal against the development of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
