The situation of the poor in some countries. Koldip (pseudonym) sold cryptocurrencies worth 98,500 rupees through peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions for about 100,000 rupees in 2022, making a modest profit of 1,500 rupees from this deal. He received the full amount in his bank account, and the transaction was conducted through a centralized trading platform. A few weeks ago, he received a notice from the Income Tax Department indicating that he had deposited 100,000 rupees. After presenting screenshots of the peer-to-peer trading and the statement issued by the exchange as evidence, the official requested that he pay a fine of 78% or 78,000 rupees on a profit of 1,500 rupees.
