gorbagana update – straight from the dumpster 🗑🗑🗑
okay guys so I thought my work here was done, and we were making good progress toward meeting Toly's fork challenge.
But as you know—perhaps fittingly—one of the devs went rogue, self-immolated, and ignited an entire dumpster fire 🔥 in the process. . .
Ngl this kinda depressed me (why can't we have nice things?) but since then the community (people who unlike me actually own GOR and/or have dev skills haha) have regrouped, caught me up on their progress & cheered me up. . .
🗑 The goal is still the same:
—->Fork solana & launch a chain that is pure TRASH
We have new, doxxed (to us) MILADY devs who are hustling hard toward Toly's 48-hour fork deadline . . This is pretty impressive as it turns out forking solana is not super easy as all the infra etc. assumes a single chain . . . . . but the power of GORBAGE is strong!!!

Unfortunately @MidTermDev who was working with us to create an actual Solana fork has either been hacked or gone rogue, has created a new $GOR token and is doing whatever. Can't vouch for anything he is saying or doing but I would not put any $ into it.

again I own none, but, just for the plot, my idea for $GOR would be to get it high enough and whoever owns a lot of it to donate it toward funding a satirical absurdist fork of Solana, called Gorbagana, centered around the religion of 🗑️(trash, gorbage). . .this could be sort of like the original idea of how Litecoin would relate to Bitcoin ... i.e., a kind of in-prod high-risk experimental testnet...everything would be rebranded to gorbage and trash themes...eg., swQoS would become twPoS (trash-weighted poorness of service). . .

You should stop betting so much, then you would be less toxic--as someone who's been in crypto since 2016, I can say it didn't used to be like this--when shit happened spontaneously it was actually fun, yeah some people made money in the process but it was not the main point and creative people doing things for lulz didn't have sociopaths breathing down their necks making death threats within 10 minutes

Ownership of branding plays a lot more into decentralization/autonomy than people like to admit.
Imo, if a company owns the trademark and doesn't have a credibly neutral rule about how it gets used, the project is not truly decentralized/autonomous
One reason why I say Ethereum was 'centralized' during the DAO fork is because of the way ETH trademark played into it.
But I think now with brands like "MegaETH" and "ETHDenver" that presumably have no licensing agreements etc., Ethereum Foundation probably lost its trademark rights over ETH/Ethereum. . .

You can see he talks about it very differently--in terms "credible commitments" etc. Iykyk, this is the *real* value prop of crypto.
Unfortunately this also means Eigenlayer and its value prop is somewhat esoteric for most people to understand, which is probably why they're moving in the direction of building out the apps themselves (e.g. EigenCloud) rather than just being a protocol/platform.
What I'd love to see is them squarely address equity vs. token value accrual because if it were clear I'd probably load up on $EIGEN, but right now too hard to tell. . .
