Tesla Announces Acceptance of Dogecoin as Payment Method in Tesla Stores
Elon Musk’s electric car company Tesla recently announced that Tesla stores now accept Dogecoin (DOGE) as a payment method.
According to the Dogecoin support page on Tesla’s website, customers can look for the Dogecoin symbol next to the “Order” page of items eligible for Dogecoin payment and use Dogecoin to purchase eligible Tesla products. The update was completed on May 4, according to Wayback Machine.
Customers who wish to purchase with Dogecoin will need to make the purchase through a Dogecoin wallet. All eligible Tesla products will clearly list the Dogecoin price, including any applicable taxes, which can be found in the FAQ section.
However, there are specific terms to be aware of when paying with Dogecoin. These terms include restrictions on using multiple wallets to pay for a single order, no cancellations after an order is placed, and no returns on items purchased with Dogecoin.
The decision comes after Musk made positive comments about Dogecoin at an event at Tesla's Gigafactory in Germany in March. When asked if Tesla might accept Dogecoin for car purchases, Musk expressed support and hinted that it could happen "at some point."
