The day after the #Bitcoin halving: what to expect?
#halving is a periodic event that occurs in the crypto world, and is celebrated, on average, every four years. What is it? In short, it is an event that reduces the number of Bitcoins issued by half and usually generates very high pressure on the price. Another way to explain it is this: instead of receiving 6.25 Bitcoins for each block mined, miners receive 3.125 after the halving.
This occurs every 210,000 blocks mined, and was designed to limit supply and reduce cryptocurrency inflation over time. “From a more philosophical point of view, this event confirms that the monetary policy mechanism of this cryptocurrency, established 15 years ago, is still valid and respected by the decentralized network,” Nicolás Jaramillo, COO of Arch, tells DF MAS. Finance.
Much of the crypto community is expectant. Of course, large price increases are not expected in the short term: experts say that this period already occurred at the beginning of the year, when a new historical maximum of US$73,700 was reached. “We may experience volatility in the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies around the halving, as short-term investors may look to take profits after several months of increases,” adds Jaramillo.
