EOS will launch EVM on April 14, 2023.

Here are some of my thoughts on the EVM rollout on #EOS :

1. The benefits of adding EVM compatibility include: EVM developers can easily deploy applications on $EOS without rewriting code, and can bridge assets between EOS and EVM-compatible blockchains for better liquidity.

2.EOS's EVM runs on EOS smart contracts. The advantage is that EVM can be upgraded independently without updating the entire EOS network.

3. The disadvantage is that some efficiency may be sacrificed, but the founder of EOS claims that the exchange rate can reach 800 times per second (the accuracy of this data is unclear).

4. With the number of developers in the $EOS ecosystem declining significantly in recent years, EOS has provided incentive funds to attract developers.

5. Incentive Funds:

Individual/Small Team - $10,000

Teams/Medium Businesses - Up to $50,000

Corporate/Large Business - Over $50,000

To be honest, these amounts are relatively small and may indicate that EOS is not financially strong.

6. A key question is whether recent events in Hong Kong will drive adoption of the $EOS EVM. The answer is uncertain and depends on market timing.

7. The advantage of EOS is that it ranks high in the China Institute of Information and Communications Technology and has an important position in the Chinese community.

8. According to https://defillama.com/chain/EOS , the total locked value of EOS is not large, because 70 million EOS out of 122 million are relatively unreal, mainly used to pledge EOS in REX to obtain PowerUp fees and RAM transaction fees.

9. In EOS EVM, users pay for gas with EOS (NET, CPU, and RAM will be purchased automatically), and EVM transactions will be pushed to EOS. Compared with the non-EVM version, the user experience is improved because they do not need to purchase resources themselves.

10. Conclusion: Given EOS’ limited funding, launching EVM seems to be a last-ditch effort. It may require more market sentiment (such as the Hong Kong/China market) to gain momentum.
