El Salvador purchased 21 BTC ahead of the fourth anniversary of the Bitcoin law. This was reported by the country's president Nayib Bukele.
«We are buying 21 bitcoins on Bitcoin Day», he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The total volume of bitcoins on the country's balance exceeded 6300 BTC. According to the National Bitcoin Office, the estimated value of the assets is over $700 million. In the last 30 days, the reserves of the first cryptocurrency in El Salvador have increased by 50 BTC.
The Block noted that El Salvador recognized bitcoin as an official means of payment in September 2021. Since then, the country has regularly replenished its reserves of the first cryptocurrency.
According to journalists, the last purchase took place a week after the authorities of El Salvador distributed controlled bitcoins among 14 new addresses. As responsible officials noted, this step is aimed at minimizing potential risks that may arise due to the development of quantum technologies.
It is noted that in July 2025, the International Monetary Fund published a report stating that the authorities of El Salvador had not purchased additional bitcoins at least since February 2025.
