In an announcement on platform X, the Shiba Inu community called for a serious change in its long-term vision. It stated that it was time to move beyond a speculative approach and focus on growth oriented towards practical benefits.
A supporter of the Shiba Inu idea stated that while token burning has historically played a certain role in reducing supply and maintaining price dynamics, it is not a sustainable strategy. The future of SHIB lies in creating products, tools, and ecosystems that will make SHIB a functional part of both the crypto and real economies.
"Burns will follow, but utility must come first," the message states.
In other words, the statement calls for a shift in priorities in line with broader trends in the crypto community, where utility and real-world application become benchmarks for long-term success.
For comparison, Shiba Inu has a huge supply of tokens exceeding 589 trillion. The cryptocurrency was originally launched in 2020 with one quadrillion tokens. However, Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin sent over 410 trillion tokens to an inactive address, effectively destroying them shortly after receiving these tokens.
Given how much these efforts have raised the price of SHIB, the Shiba Inu community has since started a campaign for continuous token burning.
Obsession with burns. Public attention to the burn issue often intensifies during rallies. Here is our report on the sharp rise in burns in SHIB.
Let's help the builders and believers of Shiba Inu
In a tweet calling for a change in stance, the authors of the publication acknowledged that most holders are not deeply involved in blockchain technology. Many of them passionately believe in the project and are driven by the dream of long-term growth, rather than technical intricacies.
"They understand a simple thing: the valuation goes up or down," said Shiba Inu.
According to the message, the future of SHIB requires providing both developers who drive innovation and supporters who fuel the community with a real reason to engage — through visible and accessible use cases that go beyond speculative trading.
Ryoshi's original vision
Additionally, the post reiterated the foundational principles laid out by the mysterious founder of the Shiba Inu breed, Ryoshi. It stated that SHIB was never intended to be a mere copy of other projects. Ryoshi envisioned it as a decentralized community ecosystem.
"Let's give credit to this by creating products that ordinary holders can see, use, and feel," the post states.
Notably, the publication did not describe specific products or timelines for their release, but it was suggested that new launches based on utilitarian solutions could be around the corner. "The story of SHIB is far from over — it is just waiting for the next big leap," it concluded.
