BitVM (Bitcoin Virtual Machine): This is the key to Bitlayer’s security. BitVM is an "off-chain workspace" that allows for complex computations to be performed and then verified on the Bitcoin network. It uses a fraud-proof system, similar to how Optimistic rollups work on Ethereum. If a user on the Bitlayer network believes a fraudulent transaction has occurred, they can challenge it. The dispute is then settled on the Bitcoin blockchain itself, ensuring that Bitlayer’s state remains truthful and secure.The Bridge: Bitlayer's BitVM Bridge is the secure gateway for moving Bitcoin (BTC) to the L2 network. When you send your BTC to the bridge, it is locked on the Bitcoin mainnet. An equivalent token, called YBTC, is then minted on the Bitlayer network.
