EminiFX Founder Ordered to Pay $228 Million for Ponzi Scheme A New York judge has ordered Eddy Alexandre, the founder of EminiFX, to pay more than $228 million to investors after running a Ponzi scheme. He also owes $15 million in extra penalties. EminiFX started in 2021 and quickly attracted over 25,000 investors, raising $262 million by promising weekly profits of 5–10% using a fake “Robo-Advisor” trading system. In reality, the company lost money and never used the promised technology. Court documents show Alexandre spent at least $15 million on himself, including luxury cars and credit card bills, while paying old investors with money from new ones. He was arrested in May 2022, later pled guilty to fraud, and received a 9-year prison sentence plus $213 million in restitution in his criminal case. The new civil ruling confirms that investors must also be repaid. A court-appointed receiver has already started returning recovered money to victims this year. Meanwhile, crypto scams, hacks, and exploits have cost people $2.47 billion in just the first half of 2025, though losses in the second quarter dropped compared to the first. #binancesquarenews
