I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to give a 0 to the work that is not submitted, and to weigh exams and final tests heavily (my policy would be 20% Practice / 60% Exams and Tests / 20% Final Exam). This is what I am going to try to do next year, but quietly.

These policies, in the end, prepare our students for failure, and the lack of weighting in evaluations allows students to get away with only doing the practical work without demonstrating that they learned anything. This is how we magically have students who fail the exams and end up with B's and A's.

I am ready to rebel and do what is best for my students. I have been a teacher for 5 years and I would like to be fired for making students accountable for what they learn in my class. Has anyone else tried something like this or is everyone in agreement with these fraudulent grading policies that reduce accountability for all involved?
