Bitlayer is an innovative Bitcoin Layer-2 (L2) solution built on BitVM, enabling Ethereum-compatible smart contract execution while preserving Bitcoin’s security. It uses a Proof-of-Stake validator network to deliver sub-second soft-finality, allowing near-instant transactions for dApps and DeFi. State transitions are periodically rolled up and settled on the Bitcoin mainnet, achieving hard finality within about seven days. Bitlayer also offers a trust-minimized BTC Bridge for secure cross-chain transfers, enhancing interoperability between Bitcoin and other ecosystems. Its design aims to combine Bitcoin’s stability with the programmability of Ethereum.
