What Is Bitlayer?

Bitlayer (Bitlayer Labs) is a blockchain infrastructure project founded in 2023, headquartered in Singapore. It builds a Bitcoin-equivalent security layer (Layer 2) offering Turing-complete smart contracts utilizing the BitVM framework.

Bitlayer’s mission is to bring DeFi to the Bitcoin ecosystem by enabling smart contracts and other programmability that the base Bitcoin protocol doesn’t natively support:

• It uses cryptographic innovations like Taproot, ZK-STARK Verifiers (FRI), OPDLC (Optimistic-Discreet Log Contracts), and BitVM technology to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient smart contract execution.
