As you may not know, Ethereum almost overtook BTC to become the coin with the largest market capitalisation on 18/6/2017. At the time, BTC had a 37.8% market share, while ETH had reached 31.2%. In the end, however, that didn't happen, BTC regained the upper hand and has maintained its lead over ETH to this day.
