Brazilian authorities seized more than 100 kilograms of gold in Boa Vista, Roraima state, on Monday as they advance in investigations to determine the origin and destination of this expensive mineral.
The Brazilian government reported on its website about the gold seizure. It specified that the events took place on Monday afternoon on the BR 401 highway, where the Federal Highway Police of Roraima intercepted a vehicle.
As part of a routine procedure, the agents detained a vehicle driven by a man traveling with his wife and a baby. From the beginning, inconsistencies were noted in the driver's documentation, and a small amount of gold was found.
In this regard, the agents opted to conduct a more thorough search inside the vehicle. Within minutes, they found dozens of gold bars and immediately detained the driver.
WHERE DOES THE GOLD COME FROM?
The police report indicated that the authorities found more than 100 gold bars, with a total weight of 103 kilograms. It is estimated that this mineral is valued at more than 11 million dollars.
